prairie She brought something new to the survival movie genre when she sought to tell the story of a group of women Earth crashes on a mysterious island Lost They must learn how to get rid of the demons they left at home and work together. After the big development that ended at the end of season one, the girls weren’t alone, and in season two, the Amazon Prime series explores the male island, providing a whole new set of back stories to tell, thus leaving the women with no more flashbacks. What did the original staff think of the change?
When CinemaBlend spoke with cast prairieEach member of the female cast They had their own opinion on the second season, but unanimously they found positives in the change. Let’s start with Irana James, who found the character of Tony A Sweet island romance with Mia Healey’s Shelby that fans loved. In her words:
I think by not exploring the backstories of the women this season, the whole thing was a little more isolated with us. Obviously the trip we were all really guided by our experience on the island felt like less, I don’t know, Season 1, we were really learning from our past mistakes and I think in Season 2 we kind of grow into these new women that we wouldn’t have otherwise. And yes, it was really beautiful. Everything was very tight and in-house and the shooting was completely different.
Mia Healy added to James’ point, which its magnetic star Totally agree with. Here’s what Healy said:
Seems like the first season was like the session with your therapist, and then the second season is like when they send you out into the world.
In the first season, each woman on the island receives her own episode, in which she explores her life before arriving on the island. Each was dealing with his own struggles and traumas before becoming part of this still mysterious social experiment. Reign Edwards plays Rachel, a rival diver dealing with the fallout from Nora’s death in Season 2.
I think there is no [flashbacks] For me personally it was a really great experience. It was definitely different from season one, but being able to grow in real time with Rachel was a rewarding process for me, as well as growing and putting the pieces together from season one.
The time to watch women is entirely on the island and nowadays the show also moves to tell the story of a group of young men on another island who have their own set of experiences. Sarah Pidgeon plays Leah, who went through a severe breakup right before the accident. The actress said this from no more flashbacks about the women on the show:
I think the girls’ island cohesion could have been highlighted this season a lot more because there was no kind of jump into the backstory. Whatever girls are going through with it at the same time, while telling that story back to the girls last season, there were more solo scenes, which is still very true in season two, but I just think the idea of them working as a group is highlighted more that season.
After I saw the whole prairie Season two, there’s some sweetness and bitterness in how it’s framed. Part of me wishes the creators spent more time with these women and fleshed out their backstories more this season, while another part of me enjoyed the new dynamic created by the male cast. There’s a lot going on in Season 2, and while the shorter seasons have been more effective lately, prairie Looks like a show could benefit from a longer season. Shannon Perry, who plays Dot, said:
During the first season, we kind of got all the info we needed [each characters’] Trouble before coming [to the island]. Fortunately, it is not as if we need to learn more new information through [flashbacks]but I love shooting backstory things, so kind of keeping it within the confines of The Wilds was definitely a new experience being more in the elements.
And finally, Sophia Ali, who Recently starred in Anonymous Next to Tom Hollandis becoming more vocal about not only wanting more backstory for her character but more actors prairie. In her words:
I wish there was more backstory for the guys. Like, if they each had their own episode in theory and obviously I wouldn’t want to get any further away from me [laughs] Because, you know, I love my job, but I still wish I could see more as a viewer.
